Big Magic Living

*Big Magic* is a term coined by author Elizabeth Gilbert in her sublime book by the same name. What I've gleaned from the many rounds of reading her beautiful book, in the broadest of strokes, is the belief that we are surrounded by magic - little sparkles of ideas, intentions, inventions - that drift in and around us daily. Perhaps they unfurl from mother earth or drift down from the divine. Like seeds in the breeze, these glimmers of magic are looking for a fertile spot to land, a host to welcome, nurture and amplify them into actualization. Regardless of your name for divine inspiration - god, source, spirit, mother nature, self, whatever name resonates with you - most of us have felt that little seed of knowing land on our shoulder with a subtle tap, tap, tap at some point in our lives. Did we respond or ignore? Did we flick it to someone else? We have also most assuredly witnessed that magic vining and twining through and around and out of others - The Gifted, we call them - who seem almost to be fabricated from rich, wet, pre-seeded earth where their brand of magic flourishes effortlessly.

Here is a secret that I know: We are not all meant or made to be thick, humid jungles dripping with magic. Some of us are better suited soil for cacti or crystals, while others the salty sand where seaweed sprawls and whispers its last breath. Some of us are mountain boulders, providing a platform to elevate another. Others yet, are clay, thick, slippery and difficult to penetrate, but with a future purpose of becoming something wholly new, to hold, house and sprout seeds for the future.

Our individual abilities to cultivate the magic floating around us are our most precious and prized resources; and yet, in the busy and structured lifestyles we're looped into, we do not often input moments for growth and wonder on our calendars. Our world of competition and efficiency has designated only "the gifted" the right to create, but anyone who has seen a child make a mud pie knows that there is joy to be had in the mess and in doing something just for the fun of it, and there is joy in the witnessing of that magic.

So. In our Big Magic Village, we invite in EVERYONE. We each have gifts woven into our beings to discover and to share. In our community practices of meditation, yoga, sound baths, Big Magic Days, retreats and other events, we collectively tune in and invite this magic to speak to us in whatever way we hear best, whether through holding space in meditation, discovering and cultivating strength and space in our bodies, tapping into the cleansing and healing power of sound waves, adventuring into nature with hiking shoes, journal or paint brush, or laughing with friends over a glitter and glue craft table. We are co-creators, stirring it all up, receiving and sharing our gifts and ideas in this oh-so-magical Village.

I'm sooo excited you've found your way here. Welcome to the fun!
